Here are photos from Fred and Debbie’s wedding reception cruise. We sailed on the Celebrity Yacht from the Washington Marina – it was fabulous!!
Aren’t these chocolates cute?! The M&M’s say “Fred Rules” and “Debbie Rocks.”
The happy couple, Debbie and Fred! We are so happy for them!

On our way to the marina, we happened upon a few cherry trees and took an opportune photo!

DC Trip – Photos 2
Our visit to the WWII memorial was very nice. It’s a very beautiful, very large memorial located between the Washington Monument and the Lincoln Memorial.
So gorgeous…

A red-wing blackbird – how pretty! We’ve never seen one of these before!

We went to DC this weekend to celebrate Fred and Debbie’s wedding. We spent Friday night grabbing brews at Gordon Biersch. Saturday Morning we walked around the Capitol area.
We visited the National Air and Space Museum, which was awesome. Dave pilots an aircraft carrier, with one finger.

Over the river and through the woods…
Today we plan to hang out and catch up, and then maybe we’ll have a nice dinner out at her favorite restaurant, The Isle Of Capri. We go early and always get a window seat so we can watch the ocean.
We haven’t seen Granma since early last fall, though I can’t rememer exactly when it was we saw her. We missed her at both holidays because we went to Portland with my mom to visit my brother and his family for Thanksgiving, and then Granma went to Portland for Christmas. Like two ships passing in the night.
It was Dave who finally got us up here for the weekend. Yay Dave!! He’s so good to my family, it’s crazy. I’m starting to think Granma likes him more than she likes me. 😉

Day 7
So, Dave is on Day 7 of his Q1 Asia trip. He left on Sunday and flew to the Phillipines. He left Detroit at 4 PM Sunday and didn’t get to Manila until 11 AM our time Monday. He spent 2 days in the Phillipines and then flew to Taiwan. He’s in Taiwan now and flies to Tokyo on Saturday morning (that’d be Friday night for us). He will spend the weekend in Tokyo and on Monday takes the Bullet Train to north Japan for the day, then on the train back down to Tokyo on Tuesday. On Wednesday he flies to Seoul, Korea. Thursday he flies to Gwangju, Korea, then back to Seoul the same evening. On Friday he flies home from Seoul through Tokyo and Detroit. That puts him home back on Friday afternoon our time. It makes me exhausted just to think about it!
Anyway, I’ve been keeping the house cleaned and the cats happy while he’s gone. And eating my share of vegetables, too. 😉 I can’t wait to have him back, though.

Chicago Trip – Shedd Aquarium and Art Institute
Tuesday the 12th we were up fairly early and had breakfast at Cosi.
We more adeptly navigated the CTA to get to the Shedd Aquarium around 10:30. What an amazing aquarium. I was in love with all the fishes and all the reptiles. I picked up some snacks at Cosi and we noshed on these halfway through our tour of the museum. When we got out, we were hungry and looking for food. We kept our standards high and didn’t settle on Bennigans, though. 🙂
[See the green neon of Bennigan’s across the street?]
We found Russian Tea Time and couldn’t resist having our afternoon meal there. I ordered potato dumplings and a flight of 3 vodkas and a glass of tasty french red wine. Dave had the beef stroganoff – yum! One of the vodkas was flavored Honey-Pepper and was really quite nice.
It was a little after 4 when we finished so we decided to dash through the Art Institute so I could see the Joseph Cornell pieces I knew they had on display. We managed to see those along with Magritte’s Time Transfixed and the famous A Sunday on La Grande Jatte by Georges Seurat.
Dinner was at Oysy, a tasty sushi restaurant, before we collapsed at the end of our long day.
