Henry is doing really well in his door jumper, but this morning he nearly fell asleep in it. Doesn’t he look sleepy?

Here he is, staring ever so intently at his mobile.

Look at that, you can actually see his neck!!!

We have a number of really cute videos of Henry at the pool, in his door jumper and in his exersaucer, but need time to upload them. Hopefully soon!!

Pool Day

Will and Ele brought Finn over for another pool day. It was lots o’ fun to hang with this fun couple and their cutie-patootie Finn. Ele’s post is better than mine, but I do have these cute post-pool pics I just had to share.

Here are Henry’s feet after about 15 minutes in the pool – all wrinkly!!

And then I couldn’t resist Henry’s buddha belly so I snapped a quick picture.

Four Month Checkup

Filed under: Henry — JeniQ @ 8:59 pm

Little guy went in for his four month checkup earlier this week and did great. He’s meeting all his milestones and the rest of his numbers look good, as well. He’s 14 pounds, 5 ounces (31%), he is 24″ long (13%) and his head is 16.5″ around (35%). He’s impressing the doctor with his 10 hours of sleep a night. He got three more shots which he did not like at all, but he was a champ about it.

He did really well. I’m sure I was more nervous than he was. 🙂

Perhaps he’ll be a world traveler like his daddy.

My day

Filed under: Henry — JeniQ @ 6:43 am

Here’s what our days are like. Dave and I split the work getting Henry’s stuff ready and cleaned, as well as dinner and clean up duties, but the volume of chores to be done make it challenging to get anything else done.

5:30 am – get up, shower, get mostly ready for work
6:00 am – wake up and feed Henry, change his diaper and clothes, gather extra outfits to take to school
7:00 am – eat breakfast, make Junior’s bottles for school, pack his bag, pack our lunches, pack up my pump parts and paraphernalia, finish getting myself ready for work
Optional tasks: straighten up for the cleaners, gather trash on trash days, get dinner ingredients ready
7:45 am – toss H-bomb into the car along with his bag, my lunch, and my pump
8:00 am – drop little man off at school after chatting with teachers
8:30 am – arrive at work
5:10 pm – leave work between 5 and 5:15
5:40 pm – feed Gomer while Dave starts dinner
6:30 pm – eat dinner
7:10 pm – start Hank’s bath
7:30 pm – out of bath, lotioned and powdered, into jam-jams
7:45 pm – top-off feeding for Henrisaurus Rex
8:00 pm – into bed, nighty-night
8:05 pm – wash bottles, wash pump parts, wash dinner dishes, get milk from freezer for next day’s bottles, make some items for next day’s lunch, scoop litter (almost always done by Dave)
Optional tasks: straighten up for the cleaners, gather trash on trash days, get dinner ingredients ready, do laundry, fill up bird feeders, blog, etc.
9:00 pm – tv, book or computer time
10:00 pm – bed time

I am also pumping at work. I’m not just sitting around, mind you, I work while I pump, but scheduling a pump session three times a day, 20 minutes an episode, means that I need to be extra careful about getting my work done. I eat lunch at my desk every day to minimize the downtime. I have no time to myself during the days to run errands.

Which means that getting to Target to pick up a prescription can be a monumental task. Luckily, with two of us taking care of the little guy, it’s easier to get stuff like that done. Hooray for my sweetie being the best dad and partner around!

Ask, and you shall receive

Filed under: Henry — JeniQ @ 1:44 pm

I said that it would be good for Henry to start daycare so he’d get exposure to germs.

I guess I didn’t really mean it.

He spiked a 102.9 degree fever on Sunday afternoon. We cooled him with wet washcloths and watched somewhat helplessly as he screamed bloody murder and cried tears for the first time I can remember.
We took him to the doctor that afternoon and he started feeling better with the cooling washcloths and some baby Tylenol. The doctor chalked it up to a virus and not heat stroke, which was what I thought it might be.

He had a bit of a rough night but seemed to be doing great this morning. His fever was gone and he was in a good mood. Dave’s playing daddy-day-care today since Henry can’t go to school.

All in all, it was not the worst experience ever.

Daycare Begins

Filed under: Henry — JeniQ @ 8:34 am

Henry started daycare this week (henceforth called “school” to make it sound more important).
Here he is in his first-day-of-school outfit.
Ready for school!

It was harder to leave him there than I thought it would be. There was more than one crying baby in the room. Henry was looking around like, “What’s with all the noise?” So was I, frankly. Unlike before I had the baby, however, I understood that most of those babies were crying for a need (hunger, sleep, changing, etc.) and I realized those teachers are all there to meet those needs as quickly as possible. They seemed to be doing a good job of staying focused and on task.

I was able to check on him via in-room video cameras during the day. They’re very low resolution but if you know what he’s wearing, you can spot him.

He’s on the yellow semi-circle

I was debating trying to obscure the images of the adults and the other children in this room, but I thought, why bother? You can’t see anything anyway! If you are immediate family and you were excited about getting access to the video cameras, I’d get less excited about it. It’s [obviously] hard to see and the technology takes a little fiddling with to get it to work.

All in all, I’m happy that he’s in daycare. I think it’s good for him in more than one way. He learns how to be cared for by new people, he gets socialization, he gets exposed to germs, etc. It was a little tough starting this week, but now that the week is halfway over, I’m feeling more comfortable and confident.
