Rocky Horror Picture Show
Science Fiction Double Feature!!
Had a great time at the Rocky Horror with Cristin and Kerri. Lots of crazy insane people out, especially because it was the Friday prior to Halloween. You can see the pictures at Cristin’s photo stream (start here) but here is my favorite.
These two had terrific Hot Fuzz costumes – they nearly won the Costume Contest. I was trying to get them to look like they’d arrested me but they actually seemed uncomfortable with that.
And here’s us girls!! Damn we’re cute!
There are more great pictures so follow the link above to see all of the action shots from the film, not to mention the boy who looks like David Bowie at 15!!

Fun Friday!
What a fun Friday night I had! Cristin came over after work and we decided it was good enough weather to attempt to recreate the back cover of Ziggy Stardust. It took us over an hour to get ready and we were so dolled up by the time we left the house! We headed up to Brier Creek for the photo shoot as we needed one of those red British telephone boxes. Imagine our dismay when we discovered that the damn doors don’t open! What? Why?!?!? I was so annoyed I was laughing.
Regardless, we looked hot. So we went to Champa for sushi dinner. Yum.
After dinner, we met up with Kerri and went to see The Rocky Horror Picture Show. More on that to come!

Meh. It’s only a Labryinth.
Currently reading Labryinth manga, courtesy of Cristin.
It’s really lovely. You know how you want to read more Harry Potter, but you don’t want to read fanfic or some lame substitute for the real thing? Well, Labyrinth is sacred ground. You wouldn’t want to see a Labyrinth II so much, would you? OK, if we’re being honest here what you really want to see is if what should have happened did happen, but that’ll never happen so… meh.
My point is that this is really good! It’s a lovely continuation from the perfect point of view and with all the little added touches that long-time fans will want to see. I finished Vol. 1 last night and I’m reading Vol. 2 now. Thanks, Cristin!

Labyrinth
Members of the “David Bowie’s spandex in Labyrinth shaped my childhood” Facebook group know what it’s all about. As do Cristin’s boobs! 🙂
Fun Jenny came over to Cristin’s tonight to watch Labryinth for the first time ever! It was fun to watch with Cristin, who has watched this movie more times than she can count. Cristin made yummy dip which we devoured, and had some fabulous cookies that were reminiscent of cupcakes.
Cristin and I geeked out and loved every minute of it. Jenny liked it, too, but I think that she was also having a good time chuckling at us.

Finished
Well, I finally finished! I read about 300 pages of the book Cristin so kindly loaned me in the three days before I took my trip, and then I listened to another five hours on the flight over to England. Still, I hadn’t finished by the time I landed. I intended to finish on the trip back home, but sat next to an engaging conversationalist. I only got about 1-2 hours read on the 6+ hour flight. I was able to listen to more during my several hour layover in JFK, but still didn’t finish the whole thing until a day after I got home.
So, what did I think? I guess I’m not really sure how I feel about it. There were several things that I found quite confusing, and it took some internet reading to understand what they meant. So when I closed the book, I didn’t quite have closure. Now I understand, but I’m still not sure I liked it as much as Cristin. More details below.
If you have already read the book, or have no plans to, I cannot highly enough recommend this synopsis. Really, really funny. Worth the read, and shorter than the book if you’re feeling intimidated by its length.
Also, I liked Ryan’s account of the book. Thanks for the comment!

Harry Potter-thon
Cristin invited me over for a 12 hour Harry Potter movie watching party on Saturday. I missed the first movie but arrived at 3 PM for Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets. After that we watched Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, and then Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. It was a very nice, intimate party. It’s gotten me excited for the release of Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix.
I got to meet Kelli and Jamie, both very sweet girls, as well as Matt, who seemed nice and kept out of our way while we chatted and drank.
Kelli and Cristin really outdid themselves gettting ready for the party. Ele would have been impressed! Kelli was even wearing Gryffindor colors. 🙂
- Wands – Pretzles coated with dark and white chocolate
- Polyjuice Potion – Grape juice, sprite and vodka
- Hogwarts Cake – Castle-shaped cake filled with cream
- Gryffindor Jello Shots – Both yellow and burgundy jello shooters (quite strong!)
I brought some Bertie Bott’s Every Flavor Beans and they were a hoot to try! Cristin’s blog linked to to some funny photos on her Flickr album. I also got some good snuggles with Lily, Cristin’s adorable kitty. (I promise I didn’t take her home with me!)
