Little Bunny Foo-Foo

A little bunny I sometimes see on my way into work.

We had dinner at Ted’s Montana Grill recently. The service was really nice, and the food was pretty tasty. I liked their menu selection. I had the fillet and Dave had the burger.

Dave has this bad habit of always getting something unpleasantly crunchy in his food when he least expects it, and this night was no exception. Rather than just being annoyed and declaring we’d never go back, he brought this bit of gristle to the attention of the waiter.

We were surprised when the kitchen manager came out and explained its existence to us. She told us that it’s rare, but it does happen, that a small piece of bone gets ground up with the meat. She apologized and inquired into Dave’s dental health. All in all, I thought they did a good job of responding to our complaint. They also comped Dave’s dinner. Bone

I liked the juxtaposition of the green and black stools with the black and green shirts. Cristin, where were you with your mad photograhy skills?

I’ve been busy snapping license plates. Here are some recent ones:

CALAMI-T : Jane, is that you?

DIV&DEEP : I didn’t see a “diver down” bumper sticker. Could there be another meaning to this?

FREESTIL : Hmm.

FRTLOOPS : You said it, not me.

FRZBGOLF : For Robbie, though I think this is a repeat.

GANYMEDE : For Michael. Why, I wonder?

GOLDWNG : For my mom. On a Goldwing, of course!

IT’SMR2U : Heh. It’s for sale if you’re interested. 🙂

KARPAASI : Huh?

L1NDYHOP : Obvious, but was LINDYHOP taken?

MINDREAD : Umm…

MOXY : Hmm.

RDHAIRNG : I’m guessing a hairstylist?

RESQ : Qute.

SHOWCATS : Seen at the Fairgrounds when we went to the cat show recently. (Craxy cat people!)

Greetings Friends, Family, Acquaintances and Lurkers! Finally, finally, finally, I have ported my blog to my new, self-hosted domain. It has taken weeks of effort and cost just a little bit of money, but it means I’m in control and all my content is safe and backed up locally.

There is still a bit of work to do with moving my pictures over from Blogger and fixing bad links, but it will all happen in time. For now, my content is in place and I can start blogging again! I want to thank Michael, Bob and Sean for all their help – could not have done it without them!

If you have blogrolled me, please update your link with my new address: www.iheartdavids.com. I will be putting stuff in place to help make permalinks pointing to my old blog work – I am hopeful I can get this done right.

As an added bonus, you are now able to subscribe to my blog! There is a form on the subscriptions page, but if that doesn’t work, just send me an email and I’ll add you to the list.

Thanks for everyone’s patience as I got this up and running. Now I’ll be able to focus on blogging!

Movie Madness

Dave and I have been playing catch-up recently, trying to see some movies while they were still in the theatres.

So, here’s what we’ve seen recently.

300 – Lovely cinematography and plenty of eye candy, though I have to admit that Gerald Butler’s Scottish accent was quite peculiar. I enjoyed the modern soundtrack and the action scenes were entertaining, but some of the creepy creatures were just too creepy. Oh, I also totally called that they filmed the Oracle scene under water – yay for me! Did I mention that there is a lot of nudity in this film? Lots.

Hot Fuzz – Another brilliant Simon Pegg movie! I love love love Simon Pegg, who I first saw in Shaun of the Dead. I’ve seen Shaun of the Dead 4 times now, including the Zomb-o-meter version and the director’s commentary. If you haven’t seen it, rent it now! Hot Fuzz pairs Simon Pegg with his buddy Nick Frost once again. The action is terrific, the story never slows down, and the jokes don’t stop. It’s currently playing at the second-run Carmike theatre on Blue Ridge Road.

Transformers – More than meets the eye!! This movie is awesome! Really, really wonderful. Go see it now!! I sat with my knees pulled up to my chest the whole time – there’s not a minute of relaxing in this fast-paced, adrenline-packed movie. Shia LaBeouf did a great job, but what kind of funny name is that? I also found myself feeling a dramatic surge of patriotism and pride watching all the arms of the military responding with lightnight speed and courage to the situations that were thrust upon them. Silly, I know, but that’s just who I am. *shrug*

Silver Surfer – Not as bad as the first Fantastic Four movie, but not great by any means. I was never a fan of the comic so I wasn’t put off by how much they changed Galactus for the movie. Jessica Alba continued to look plastic with her Sims hair, freaky fake contacts and goofy blue eyeshadow. Ioan Gruffudd (pronounced YO-an GRIFF-ith) is pretty cute though they didn’t give him enough gray at the temples. The Silver Surfer himself was pretty cool.

Harry Potter – We’re going to see it today!! Here’s Cristin’s review.

We’re falling through space, you and me.

Filed under: Doctor Who — JeniQ @ 1:40 am
I’ve just started watching Season 3 of Doctor Who. In the first two episodes we’re introduced to Donna, who is largely annoying and so not deserving of The Doctor’s company. Why did he even ask her? Was he that lonely? Then in episode two we meet Martha, the new Companion. I guess she’ll do, though we know, and The Doctor tells her as such, that she’s no replacement for Rose.

It made me think of this fabulous review I read of Doomsday, the final episode of Season 2. It’s posted on Television Without Pity and it’s written by someone fabulolus named Jacob.

Here’s the letter I sent to Jacob:

I read several of your recap pages from this episode, Doomsday. Reading your post, I found myself crying, sobbing! It was so true. You said: “I don’t care to do the math and I don’t know how to say this without coming across just ridiculous, and I am slightly drunk, but I mean: Rose Tyler. On every single page. I know this girl, and she’s gone, forever, and tonight I really miss her. I wish today were just like every other day. My Rose. You were fantastic.”

I, perhaps, have also had too much wine, but I agree with this wholeheartedly. It’s so funny to me that I feel like I’ve lost the doctor. Duh. He’s not gone. But I guess I’m feeling how Rose feels. That’s how I’m feeling after watching Doomsday.

Jacob was kind enough to respond and act flattered!
