I’ve been inspired, mostly by the awesome fabric selections, to try some “mama cloth” for my post-partum recovery and handmade reusable nursing pads for my nursing needs.

And finally, our completed guest bedroom. This room has some Ikea shelves that Dave installed which house his extensive record collection. We love the blue color, it lights up this room which doesn’t receive that much natural sunlight.
I found a new home for the two vintage blue glass lamps Kerri made me buy from the flea market, and I re-purposed the teal curtains from the nursery. We’ve decorated with a little bit of a Southern theme with the comforter, front porch picture and antique window, but tied in the wall o’ records with the array of record frames above the bed.
This morning Henry said “Go upstairs, Mommy” complete with gestures. A little tyrannical, but a sentence nevertheless!
Yet another in the series of music-related flashback posts. I found another tape I’m not sure I can throw away. Two Nina Simone songs, which probably helped fuel my life-long love of the artist (that, and Point of No Return). Rene and Georgette Maugritte. Marc Cohn, Counting Crows, U2. Good stuff!
This one was made by Kara Prosise, probably in high school, but maybe a little bit later than that. I’m sure she expanded my musical horizons. Kara always had a really diverse taste in music, drawn to a capella and classic old jazz as well as current rock and tasty, lightweight pop music.
Dave just celebrated another birthday. Happy Birthday Dave!!!
He and Henry got matching Superman pajamas.
Henry and I got Dave a Carvel ice cream cake, but through a wonderful miscommunication, Dave ended up making himself an angel food cake, too. As a pregnant wife, I think that’s awesome. 🙂

We had a good couple of inches of snow here on Friday night, and as of Sunday it’s a pretty solid, icy pack. Fun!!!
This morning, Shannon and Steve brought Sawyer and Sullivan over and the Force’s from down the street joined us with their two kids. They brought sleds and we had a big time sledding down our now amazingly popular driveway. Our steep driveway made for some speedy sled rides, so Henry was a big gunshy after his first ride. He eventually warmed up to the idea, though, and got pretty confident with sledding down on his butt. It was really a lovely way to spend the morning!
Here’s our completed office. We had French doors installed in the room that used to be our reading/puzzle room. It makes for a nice, light and airy office. Dave got a new desk (after 15 years!) that looks very handsome in the room.
