Some quick pictures I snapped of Linus in the mall. (Mostly I’m just testing blogging from my phone. 🙂

Low: A new high
Cristin gave me this beautiful piece of handmade artwork for Christmas.
I just framed it today. It looks amazing, frankly, with the peeking yellow mat and hot pink aluminum frame. Go me, and go Cristin!
Thanks, boo!

Free Linus – Couch Outtakes
We tried to get a nice pic of all the kids on the couch. Didn’t quite work out, but hilarious nonetheless!
Free Linus!
Last weekend our good friends were kind enough to host a Free Linus party for our little spica cast escapee. It was terrific. The best part was that Nicole made up t-shirts for all the kids that said “Free Linus” and then she let them choose an assortment of iron-on patches to decorate their shirts. Linus’s shirt just said “Free” on the front and “Watch out world” on the back. It was a terrific party and we had a blast! Thanks, everybody, for helping celebrate!

Playset
We got the boys a playset this week! We are so excited to be able to just open up the back door and let them run outside to play. It has a two-story fort with open rails on the top. You access the top fort by either the gangplank or wavy slide. The bottom floor has a nice wooden floor with two half-height walls with a little counter and two solid walls with little windows. There is also a three-position swing set. It is a super awesome playset; we are really very pleased.
We worked with Mark at Backyard Playgrounds, who we highly recommend. They work with you to design a playset that meets your needs, they have a great warranty, and they are reasonably priced. Give them a call if you’re in the market for a new playset!

Diapering in a spica cast
This informative post is just a record of how we diaper Linus in his spica cast.
We use a size 2 inner diaper and a size 5 outer diaper. We also use an extra-large Poise pad in the diaper (only at night) and a cotton coil as a dam. For the Poise pad, we cut through the back to allow the inner diaper to soak up urine as well. The pad goes farther into his cast than the diaper does for overnight protection. We place the cotton coil in as a dam against leakage and it goes all the way around the opening, double in some places. Once the coil, pad and inner diaper are in place, then we put on an outer diaper to protect the cast, his groin, and as a last ditch effort to absorb any leaks.

Meet Scooby Doo
I really, really wanted a Scooba. But they are ‘spensive. So I found an affordable one on Craigslist. Which turned out to have a bum battery. So the seller sent me a check to cover the cost of a new battery. So now I have a Scooba with a brand new battery. For CHEAP.
I am in heaven. It gets the floors really clean. You don’t have to sweep before you mop. I love it. I wish I had more time to spend with my Scooba. Who incidentally I wanted to name “Sabrina” but who Dave calls “Scooby Doo.” I think Scooby Doo has stuck.

My Day
Here’s my schedule these days. Seems pretty hectic. Feels pretty hectic, anyway.
6:00 Up to nurse Linus.
6.30 Diaper time for Linus including diaper change, bag emptying, gauze change, and putting on his daytime outfit.
6.45 Time for me to get ready – wash my face, iron my hair, get dressed. Linus gets floor time in the living room or jumper time in the bathroom.
7.05 Get Henry up. Pick out clothes, have Henry Brush his teeth and use the bathroom.
7.30 Finally get Henry downstairs for breakfast. Hopefully Dave and I get a chance to eat breakfast as well. Pack up pump parts, computer, lunch box, etc. to take to work. Put Linus down for nap. Attempt to get Henry dressed once he finishes breakfast.
8:05 I have to leave at this time so I won’t be late for work.
8:15 Actual time I leave.
8:40 Arrive to work.
Pump three times while at work so no lunch break or time to run errands.
5:00 Stop working, pack up pump, computer, lunch box, etc.
5:20 Arrive at daycare to pick up the kids.
5:45 Leave daycare with the boys and all their stuff.
6:00 Arrive home, nurse Linus.
6:15 Dinnertime, usually prepared by Dave. These days Linus joins us at the table to have some cereal or other baby food.
6:45 Wrap up dinner, clean up kitchen (almost always Dave).
7:00 Bathtime for Henry (and sometimes Linus) which includes about 5 minutes of cajoling to get him in and another 5 minutes to get him out.
7:30 Playtime for Henry and Linus.
8:00 Bedtime for Henry. Nurse Linus for 30-60 minutes.
8:30-9:00 Bedtime for Linus.
After the boys are down, I can take a shower, do laundry, pack up for the next day, pick up toys, get Hazel or ScoobyDoo ready to go, check email, blog, etc. Mostly I just want to sit on the couch and drink a beer, though.
Bedtime is between 9:30 and 11.
