Our neighbors Chantal and Derrick invited us over to their annual wine-tasting party last night. Everybody brings two bottles of the same wine and an appetizer. The wines are all placed in paper bags and you get to sample liberally, rating each wine as you go. At the end of the night, all of the scores are tallied and the winner receives a prize, though I don’t know what the prize was.
The winner of the reds was Lindeman’s Bin 50 Shiraz – a great, easy to drink wine with a lot of flavor. Our favorite was the BV Coastal Estates Pinot Noir. The Nobilo Sauvignon Blanc I brought did not win among the three whites that were there – too strong in flavor plus most people skipped the whites in favor of the reds.
I did, however, look very cute! I wore my birthday present, a new shirt from Jan, and I did my hair in loose curls.
We did this once! I just recommended it to some friends as a Xmas party idea. PS -Shocked and disappointed that my beloved Nobilo did not impress! It is my very very favorite. But yes, I understand the allure of the reds…
